Beenox is a video game development studio created in 2000. Located in beautiful Quebec City, Canada, Beenox is a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Publishing Inc., one of the world’s top game developers.

The studio is proud to contribute to the development of the Call of Duty video game franchise. Beenox has also contributed to the resounding success of the Skylanders, Spider-Man, and Guitar Hero franchises.

What to expect:


A Lead has to contribute on more than one level in his character art team; he/she acts as a facilitator at the operational, human and technical levels. Much more than a content expert, he/she has to assist his/her employees and support them through their whole lifecycle at Beenox. He/She needs leadership skills to bring out the best of his team and to create the AAA material required for the Activision franchises.
 
Amongst other tasks, a lead:

  • Makes sure the deliverables are executed according to the production plan and the artistic direction;
  • Validates that production pipelines are optimal by collaborating with various departments;
  • Clarifies technical questions and addresses problems that could slow down production;
  • Supports communication between the production team, various departments and his/her team;
  • Takes part in the project planning sessions, in the priority setting of tasks and review sessions;
  • Makes sure that his/her team receives all the training required to work effectively and develop their own skills;
  • Meets all of his/her team members individually on a regular basis;
  • Takes part in the recruitment and selection process of his/her team members;
  • Evaluates his/her team and delivers performance reviews; 
  • Approves schedules and timesheets.
 
You have :
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an character artist in the video game industry or in a related industry;
  • Ability to create 3D characters in low and high resolution
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills;
  • Good understanding of video games’ technical constraints;
  • Advanced knowledge of Photoshop, Zbrush, Maya and 3DS Max;
  • Very good work organization skills;
  • Ability to manage several projects at the same time and to delegate;
  • Ability to communicate in French and in English;
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
