Job Title: Employment Compliance Manager
Reporting To: VP, HR Operations & Effectiveness
Department: Human Resources
Location: Santa Monica, CA

Your Mission

The Employment Compliance Manager is responsible for managing and administering all elements of the employment screening and review processes, including the background check process. The role also includes management of company government compliance programs. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Own the end to end process for employment screening and review process for US operations in specific businesses with plans to expand and build out in the future
  • Review background reports for approval and issue identification
  • Manage the escalation process for issues partnering with Talent Acquisition and Human Resources teams to assist with resolving discrepancies 
  • Work with cross-functional groups to ensure reported information is sensible, accurate and completed in a timely manner 
  • Provide regular progress reports to Management, Legal, Talent Acquisition, and Human Resources teams 
  • Review the current state process and provide recommendations on how to improve (process, vendors, service delivery model, etc.) and scale broadly across the business including an implementation roadmap 
  • Secure approval across all key stakeholders for design of future state process and roadmap 
  • Continuously improve the background check process implementing changes as necessary to ensure the process is as effective and efficient as possible 
  • Manage, administer and continuously improve the company’s internal processes to ensure compliance with government programs including Affirmative Action Programs, EU General Data Privacy Regulations, California Consumer Privacy Act, etc. 

Player Profile

  • 5-6 years’ experience in employment background administration in a mid to large size organization; prior investigation skills is a plus
  • Experience in project/program management and process improvement 
  • People management experience 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • The highest levels of discretion and judgement skills 
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines (experience in production environment a plus) 
  • Familiarity with FCRA and state compliance a plus 
  • Experience managing vendor relationships 
  • Excellent research skills (Investigative research or paralegal, experience a plus) 
  • Strong skills in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Familiarity with internet and Boolean searches 
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
