Activision Blizzard Studios (AB Studios), the film & television division of Activision Blizzard, seeks a Finance Manager to support its rapidly growing business.  Having recently launched a successful children’s animated series on Netflix and with additional theatrical and TV projects in the pipeline, we are seeking a highly capable self-starter to support our growing finance needs.  This position will support the AB Studios Finance Director in the areas of financial operations, financial planning and analysis, and accounting.  The position will also support the film/TV Strategy Director with ad-hoc business analyses, research projects, and internal/external presentations as needed.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Help support business unit operational finance functions (e.g. managing financial statement models, profit-by-product financials, scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, as well as overhead, capex, and cash planning and management
  • Support financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions including forecasts, annual operating plans, long-term plans, KPI analysis, variance analysis, and preparing for various stages of executive review
  • Support corporate accounting and reporting functions including quarterly closes and financial reporting for CFO reviews
  • Help perform ad-hoc business analyses, research projects, financial model consolidation and strategy presentation work as necessary
  • Support the creative development team and the SVP of Operation and Business Affairs in managing and tracking film/TV development budgets
  • Consolidate production finance budgets and EFCs as well as indirectly manage the respective film/TV production accountants
  • Manage the Skylanders Academy Season 3 budget & EFC
  • Consolidate film revenue ultimates and calculate amortization, participations and residuals; also help manage capitalized assets, and analyze capitalized overhead
  • Support global distribution finance and accounting needs, and help implement new processes as the business grows
  • Manage planning forecasts in Hyperion (Revenue, Opex, Capitalization and Amortization, etc.) and leverage Essbase / Smartview to develop efficient reporting of quarterly results
  • Liaise with various Corporate shared services teams as necessary (e.g. FP&A, Accounting, Legal, etc.)
  • Routinely evaluate existing controls, policies and procedures to support growth and expansion
  • Indirectly manage contract admin / AP clerk to ensure invoices and payroll are paid in an accurate and timely manner

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum bachelors’ degree in finance, accounting, business or another related field
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience working in finance, accounting or related area
  • Experience serving as a financial approver for budgetary requests (i.e. requisitions)
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting rules and policies to properly interpret and determine applicable accounting treatments
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Self-starter with excellent judgment, high accountability and professional maturity
  • Flexibility to manage multiple priorities, projects and deadlines
  • Willingness to pitch in and get things done as a team player
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles preferred
  • Entertainment industry knowledge preferred
  • CPA preferred
